The inspiration for the design was influenced by the Scandinavian color palettes and Japanese minimalism. The client, Anton, has a vast admiration for functional yet simplistic spaces that incorporate natural elements constructed with master craftsmanship skills. Anton requested for the design of a vacation home getaway in the Trapper Peak area of Montana. The home is surrounded by the Bitterroot Mountain range in Montana. I welcome you to this iteration of the Japandi Vacation home.

Kitchen

The kitchen integrates a large window as a backsplash providing sunlight and a spectacular view while cooking.  A lot of natural sunlight enters the home through this entrance into both the kitchen and living room. Anton was pleased with the integration of the natural landscapes and views into the home's essence.

Bedroom

The bedroom incorporates the largest window in the home where natural light can illuminate the nesting space. Anton requested a larger window to allow the morning's sunrise to enter the room and establish a calm awakening. The glass wall was integrated to allow for more natural light to enter the space. The glass can provide privacy as it has smart features that control the opacity of the glass at the client's requests.

The client was Anton Lockhart, an Aviation Engineer who owns a plot of land in the region of San Jacinto Mountains, in Riverside County, California. Anton desired to build a vacation home in this land that overlooked the mountainside. The mission was to create a getaway home inspired by the Japandi design principles that served as a personal serene haven.

Anton desired a home that held Japandi inspired aesthetics, with vast amounts of natural light. The kitchen and living room were to incorporate a neutral palette to harmonize the space while establishing her energetic personality with a tint of green hues. The hues utilized were those found in traditional Japandi design and black marble was incorporated into the space as bold accents in most rooms. An emphasis and natural materials and hues were utilized to ground the home's design into the natural backdrop. The home became Anton’s serene, simplistic, minimalist and functional retreat with a gorgeous backdrop of the San Jacinto Mountains that encompass the design.

Bathroom

The bathroom was a space where the incorporation of the green and blue hues were utilized as they are solid in the foundation of Japandi design itself. The black marble stone was utilized again to represent the black elements found within the Japandi lore. Vibrant hues were utilized to help harmonize the space into the natural background.
